I Want To Keep All My Original Parts *SOBS*

I had always prided myself on the fact that I have never had to have surgery, and thus have kept all of the "optional" parts I was put on this planet with (appendix, gallbladder, adnoids, tonsils, etc). Well, not anymore. I found out on Tuesday that I have to have a tonsilectomy because I have badly absessed tonsils which are actually making me sick. I have to have it ASAP, but I have not scheduled it yet. Needless to say, I am not looking forward to this procedure. Adults have a much longer and painful recovery thatn children apparently. I can expect to be out of work for anywhere from 10 days to 6 weeks. My ENT said he would basically keep me doped up the first week because that way I won't be alert enough to even know I am in pain. I wish my doctors would have had the foresight to do this 15 years ago instead of doing it when I am almost thirty. I so want my Mommy!

A Little (Unpleasant) Taste of Motherhood

We kept our 4 year old god daughter Elizabeth last night. Normally when we keep her, it is a relatively fun experience. Last night was no exception, until after we put her to bed, she got horribly sick and proceeded to throw up for the next 3 hours. I have never seen anyone vomit so much. Eventually we had to call her parents, who came and picked her up about 1 am. We are not entirely sure what caused the vomiting, but think it was just a really nasty bug. I am going to call her parents today and see how she is doing. I hope she doesn't equate coming to Auntt CC and Uncle Gregg's house with profuse projectile vomiting. We would love for her to come back again, just without hte vomiting. Today I have a ton of laundry to do (in addition to the 2 loads of sheets, comforters, towels, and nightgowns I did last night) and a bunch of cleaning to get the house back to normal. I don't know how you Moms do it. My hat is off to you.

Resolution Update

Well here it is the third week of the year and we have done ok with the resolutions. I have planned menus each week and for the most part, we have stuck to them. I've enlisted the help of Nyd to exchange recipes with me so we can keep things fresh and interesting. That we we both have committed ourselves to planning and cooking at home. Here are our menus for this week/ These recipes all come from food network or my twisted brain.

Sunday- Tuscan Chicken with White Beans and Wilted Greens served with Steamed broccoli

Monday- Butternut Squash Soup and Salad topped with Asian Marinated Salmon

Tuesday-Leftovers

Wednesday-Chicken Piccata with Lemon, Capers, and Artichoke Hearts served with Brown Rice and Brussel Sprouts

Thursday-Honey Mustard Glazed Salmon Fillets served with Spinach and Tri-Colored Peppers

Friday- Takeout

Saturday- Garlic Lime Chicken with Sundried Tomatoes served with Baby Carrots and Green Beans

I know many of you are going to think these meals sound yucky, but they are really good and nutritionally balanced. Planning ahad really help us stick to our lifestyle and also saves us money so that we don't constantly go out or get takeout. I even already have today's meal on the crock pot already!

Nyd, I am waiting to see your menus. :p I can't wait to start exchanging recipes so I can taste some of your tasty food and experience new things.

Oh and the other resolutions are in varying stages of commitment and completion. The food ones are easier to stick to for me.

The lone holdout

Well this viscous stomach virus has made its way through our office with both office and field staff being decimated by it. I was the lone hold out in the office staff. The only one who didn't get it. I considered myself very fortunate for being able to withstand contamination. Gregg had it last week and I counted my lucky stars. I thought I was actaully going to be able to miss that particular vile torture. That is until yesterday. I started feeling sick after I ate lunch, but I just thought it was my lunch not sitting well with me. I felt icky most of the night. I got up this morning and still felt icky but went on to work. I lasted there for about an hour and a half before I had to come home. I came home, got all warm in my jammies, made myself some homemade egg drop soup and hunkered in for hte onslaught. I hate stomach illnesses. Good thing this thing only lasts a day or two!!
